Knowing how to sell is crucial for your business success, whether you have a service or product-based business. Unfortunately, business and marketing know-how is not something we’re born with!
When I had my jewelry business, I had no clue about how to market it properly. I was just happy to be doing something I enjoyed! But when I decided to take my business seriously, I realized I needed to learn some skills to make more money, or I’d be stuck at my 9-5 forever.
Enter Marie Forleo’s B-School.
Once I decided to take my business to the next level, I stumbled upon Marie Forleo’s amazing course called B-School. I knew right away while watching Marie’s 3 part video series that I wanted her to be my business and marketing mentor. Not only did she know her stuff, but she was fun and had the same values of freedom, passion, and integrity as I did.Â
I wanted a business that filled my bank account, but also my soul. One that made me excited and also made a difference in the world!Â
So I signed up immediately with excitement. I knew in my heart I was about to embark on a life-changing journey, but it turned out even better than I imagined.
Little did I know, I would use what I learned in B-School to eventually close my jewelry shop, quit my job, and become a virtual assistant. Or that B-School would be such a huge asset to my new career!

How B-School Helped my Virtual Assistant Business:
B-School was an investment that paid off in so many ways. Here are just a few of the benefits I reaped from this one-of-a-kind program.
1) I learned how to market my business properly.
Most business owners will tell you that they struggle with marketing, but B-School teaches you everything you need to find clients and build an audience. In B-School, I learned how to…
- Create a website that drives traffic like crazy
- Write copy that sells
- Make free content to grow my list
- Send newsletters that people actually read
And soooo much more.
2) B-Schoolers like to hire other B-Schoolers, especially VAs.Â
B-School isn’t just a course, it’s a community.
B-Schoolers often want to hire people who are familiar with the B-School philosophy. They also like to refer to people who do great work.
I’ve worked with some amazingly talented people who practically fell into my lap because I went to B-School with them. It’s been a fruitful and easy way to get clients and referrals without a lot of extra work! (Seriously, I’ve made back my investment several times over just with clients and referrals from B-School.)
3) I learned skills that have grown WITH my business.
In 2020, I pivoted from VA work to mentoring, and the skills I learned in B-School have worked for me no matter what stage I was in or what I was offering. The B-School lessons are timeless and universal and have served me through every stage of business.
My Tips for Making the Most of B-School
B-School is an investment in your business and yourself. If you decide to join, you won’t want to put the course on a shelf to collect dust. Instead, you’ll want to make the most of it!
1) Set aside time to go through the modules and do the work.Â
I know this seems obvious, but it’s tempting to just watch the videos and read the materials but not actually do anything with them.
B-School covers a lot of info that will grow your business if you use it correctly, so take the time to watch the videos, fill out the fun sheets, and, most importantly, implement what you learn.
2) Get to know the community.Â
See who is calling into the live weekly calls and leaving questions in the program. You’ll likely hear some people who could use your advice or help. This can lead to amazing friendships and business connections you wouldn’t have found otherwise!
3) Find B-School Facebook groups to join.Â
There isn’t an official B-School Facebook group, but there are lots of groups run by other B-schoolers, including groups looking for B-School VAs. Join these groups and get to know people!
4) Sign up through my special link.Â
